GST zero-rated: Isuzu prices slashed by up to RM10k

KUALA LUMPUR: Under the ongoing GST (goods and service tax) shift from 6 to 0%, the Isuzu Malaysia releaseed a new, reduced price list. According to revised list, prices would come down to RM10k. This tax on automobiles would be completely removed taking effect from June 1, 2018, until the implementation of SST.

According to the government announcement, the new on-the-road prices will continue to persist until the implementation of the Sales and Service Tax (SST), excluding insurance. There is no specific word out from the government, but it is said that within two-three months, the SST would completely replace the GST.

Masayuki Suzuki, Isuzu Malaysia’s chief operating officer for a light commercial vehicle, said that with the new prices and tax structure, customers would surely take the opportunity to upgrade themselves and their vehicles. After all, there is no better time to own a brand new Isuzu model.

Both the 2.5L automatic variants of the Isuzu mu-X would be available at the reasonable prices. The retail price of the four-wheel drive and two-wheel drive version will go low-priced by RM172,709.20 or RM10,291.20 and RM166,709.20 or RM9,931.20 respectively, which is actually less than the GST-inclusive price.

With the exclusion of GST, the all-new D-Max Single Cab 2.5L 4x2 MT variant now starts at RM80,889.20 excluding insurance. For the Double Cab variants, the price range starts from RM81,189 (Double Cab 2.5L 4×2 MT Hi-ride) and would go up to RM123,088.40.

The reduced prices won’t exactly be same since the 6% GST is only applied to the selling price of a car. Hence, there might be variation in the percentage of reduction. The excluded insurance charges and additional cost components (without GST) such as registration fee, road tax, ownership endorsement fee would be later added, forming the final on-the-road price.

The revised Isuzu price list has created tremendous interest among the customers. Hurry up to get a brand new Isuzu model before the implementation of SST.
