GWM Ora 07 launches in Malaysia: from RM170k, up to 408PS/680Nm and 640km range - first 500 buyers get free wallbox charger and 2 year extra warranty

KUALA LUMPUR: Great Wall Motors (GWM) has officially launched the Ora 07 in Malaysia, a highly anticipated move after a long hiatus following the debut of the Ora Good Cat last year.

Eagerly awaited by many, GWM has now begun accepting orders for this stylish, powerful, and environmentally friendly electric vehicle (EV), aiming to make a significant mark in the Malaysian market.

Launch and Availability The Ora 07, also known as the Lighting Cat, enters the electric sedan fray, ready to take on established names like the BYD Seal. With orders now open and the launch already celebrated, GWM is set on broadening its EV offerings in Malaysia.

GWM Malaysia has announced the price of their electric coupe, with the Long Range Ultra priced at RM169,800 and RM189,800 for the top of the line Performance variant.

The first 500 GWM Ora owners will also walk away with a complimentary home wallbox charger and an additional 2-year warranty (8 years or 180,000) on top of the regular warranty package.

Performance and Specifications The Ora 07 is available in two trims: Long Range and Performance. The Long Range version comes with a front-mounted single motor delivering 204 PS and 340 Nm of torque, powered by an 83.5 kWh battery, allowing for a range of up to 640 km.

The Performance variant features a dual-motor AWD setup, pushing out 408 PS and 680 Nm, capable of accelerating from 0-100 km/h in 4.3 seconds, and offering a range of 550 km. Both support fast 88kW DC charging taking about 32 minutes to go from 30-80%. AC charging maxes out at 11kW.

Design and Features The Ora 07 showcases a fluid, aerodynamic body, round LED headlamps, frameless windows, retractable door handles, and a coupe-like roofline, mixing retro charm with futuristic appeal. Available in Crystal Purple, Amethyst Gray, and Jade White, its design draws comparisons to the Porsche Panamera, featuring a closed grille and distinctive oval headlights. There's also a 1.7m² panoramic glass roof and electric rear spoiler to give the Ora 07 a touch of sophistication.

Safety is Paramount GWM highlights the Ora 07's safety, having passed China's first intensive EV rollover test and intersection collision test, equipped with a comprehensive suite of safety features including 360-degree cameras and adaptive cruise control.

Interior Amenities The interior is a fusion of luxury and tech, featuring a supercar-like cockpit with a 10.25-inch instrument display and a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system compatible with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, head-up display, ambient lighting, an 11-speaker sound system, and automatic air-conditioning. Front passengers can enjoy ergonomic massage seats, ensuring comfort and connectivity.

With its blend of high performance, elegant style, and advanced technology, the GWM Ora 07 is set to impact Malaysia's growing electric vehicle market significantly.

GWM Malaysia has included a substantial warranty package for all GWM Ora 07, featuring vehicle warranty up to 6 years or 150,000 km as well as an 8 year warranty with a coverage up to 180,000 km for power battery, electric motor and electric motor control unit, whichever comes first. 

There's also this protection where owners have 12 years car rust and corrosion warranty as well as one-to-one battery replacement, on the condition that the battery's State of Charge falls bellow 70%.
