Honda Prelude bookings open in Malaysia; launching soon

KUALA LUMPUR: Earlier this year, Honda Malaysia outlined its game plan for 2026, confirming that 6 new models will be introduced over the course of the year. Well, as expected, the brand’s all-new two-door coupe, the Honda Prelude, is part of this upcoming lineup.

Marking the return of an iconic nameplate, the new Honda Prelude went on sale in Japan last year. Here are the key highlights of the upcoming Honda car -

Honda Prelude: Key highlights

Sleek two-door coupe design

The Honda Prelude is a sports 2+2 coupe measuring 4,522 mm in length, 1,880 mm in width and 1,355 mm in height and spans a wheelbase of 2,605 mm.

In terms of design, it boasts an aerodynamic design highlighted by its smooth silhouette and low, flowing proportions. The coupe has a low and wide stance featuring a black chrome grille, wing-style LED headlamps and unique blue accents on the front and rear. Other key highlights include a glass-printed antenna, 19-inch Berlina Black alloy wheels, and flush door handles.

Hybrid drivetrain under the skin

Powering the upcoming Honda coupe is an e:HEV hybrid powertrain that comprises a 2.0-litre naturally aspirated four-cylinder engine tuned to make a maximum power of 141 hp and a peak torque of 182 Nm. It comes mated to an electric motor that kicks out 184 hp and 315 Nm. Power is transmitted to the front wheels via an e-CVT gearbox.

New ‘S+Shift’ technology

The Prelude is the first Honda model that features the ‘S+ Shift control’ system; this tech simulates a virtual 8-speed transmission and controls engine rpm during acceleration and deceleration, making the driving experience more sporty and engaging. Three available driving modes are - Sport, GT and Comfort.

Elevated interior

The interior has a light and comfortable cabin with sophisticated touches and uniquely designed seats, offering firm support to the driver's seat for sportier driving. Key highlights include -

Sporty handling

Sharing suspension and chassis tech with the Civic Type R, the coupe comes equipped with dual-axis strut at the front and an adaptive damper system that precisely controls damping forces. It also has an enhanced Honda Agile Handling Assist for improved steering responsiveness and stability during cornering. Adding to the enhanced driver confidence are high-capacity front Brembo brakes.

As for the Honda Prelude pricing, we can refer to the Japanese market, where the price begins at JPY 6,179,800 (approx RM 156k).
