Honda WR-V to arrive in Malaysia soon; here’s what is on offer

KUALA LUMPUR: At the recently concluded Honda Media Gathering 2023, the Japanese automaker announced the soon arrival of four models - 3 new and one facelift vehicle. Part of this new package is a small sports utility vehicle which will mark Honda’s entry into this unique segment.

Honda will enter the segment with the all-new WR-V which is scheduled to make its debut in the third quarter of 2023. The car it will be replacing is the BR-V which has been already discontinued by the brand.

 

Let us get to know the new Honda WR-V which will be the “first Japanese mass market manufacturer to enter the Small SUV segment” in detail.

Exterior

The new WR-V showcases an aggressive design language which we first saw in the RS SUV concept back in 2021. Few highlights of the car being

• A checkered flag-inspired front grille
• LED headlights
• Skid plate-like elements on the bumpers
• 16- or 17-inch alloy wheels
• Two-tone black roof (depending on the variant picked)

Interior

Obviously, with a welcoming cabin, the new WR-V will feature several standard gears like -

• A seven-inch touchscreen infotainment display
• Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity
• Automatic climate control
• Synthetic leather and fabric combi seats
• Automatic climate control

Powertrain

The Indonesia-spec WR-V is powered by a naturally-aspirated 1.5-liter four-cylinder engine making a maximum power of 121 hp along with a peak torque of 145 Nm. The drive is sent to the front wheels via a CVT gearbox.

We expect to get the same powertrain along with the possible debut of the e:HEV hybrid mill in the form of the Honda WR-V RS variant.

Safety

Honda’s new SUV apart from being super smart is reliable too. It will benefit from Honda Sensing advanced driver assistance suite which includes -

• Autonomous emergency braking
• Lane-keeping assist
• Adaptive cruise control
• Road departure mitigation system
• Lead car departure notification system
• Auto high beam

The range-topping RS variant is expected to come along with additional features like Honda LaneWatch blind spot camera system and 6 airbags.
