Hyundai to Offer a MUV and a Mini-SUV in the Near Future
KUALA LUMPUR : Hyundai has been planning long to add a Multi Utility Vehicle segment to its already extended car range. Previously, at the 2012 Auto Expo held in New Delhi, Hyundai showcased the Hexa Space Concept (as seen in the picture above), a MUV that was based on the same platform as the company's compact ix20. Though, in the past, many concepts were presented by this car-maker, but this one will surely reach its set destination. As the South Korean car-maker is ready to transform its Hexa concept into a full-fledged production car soon.
Codenamed as 'IP', this new MUV is expected to receive the same body cut, which the i20 and Creta hold. But it will not share the same platform as the formers, and will, therefore, witness a price cut. As for the engine specification, the new MUV is expected to mirror Hyundai Verna, with either in a 1.4L Mpi petrol or CRDi engine. In the future, it is also expected to receive a 1.6L petrol and diesel engine.
Apart from working on the MUV segment, Hyundai is also planning to enter the mini SUV market, that is flourishing and holds promising future prospects. With its mini SUV, Hyundai plans to give a tough competition to Suzuki, one of its chief competitors in the Malaysian market. This mini-SUV is expected to be motivated by a 1.2L petrol and 1.4L CRDi diesel engine. Falling under the Hyundai Creta , this mini-SUV after entering the market will compete with the likes of Duster and Renault.
We can expect to see the new Hyundai IP by the early 2016, till then we will have to wait for any further announcement from Hyundai.
