Isuzu D-MAX proves to be the best jungle transport vehicle for media

Kuala Lumpur: Isuzu D-Max is one of the most celebrated offroader in Malaysia and this year at the Borneo Safari this vehicle kept abreast all the media persons of the news and happenings during the 8-day long event. The Borneo Safari is one of the most challenging events on Malaysia’s off-roading calendar and to cover the event on the news front it is an arduous task for the media professionals as well. Although it was done quietly and efficiently with a small convoy of 3 Isuzu D-MAX pick-ups piloted by inexperienced media persons. The D-Max easily carried them across the cross rivers, rocks, ravines or another rugged terrain during the 8-day event without a fuss keeping them safe and comfortable along the journey.

Surprisingly the vehicles were not driven by hired 4×4 experts or professional off-roaders but in most cases the media members themselves strolled them around the rough rainy terrains.

According to Executive Director of Isuzu Malaysia, Hajime Machimura, the D-MAX is doing the similar job of keeping ahead the media for all the action in the jungle for the past 9 years.

“Thanks to its superior 4×4 capabilities, the Isuzu D-MAX has proven to be the ideal vehicle for the job, not only because of its dependable nature or its confidence-inspiring stability, but also because the large cargo bed is able to swallow just about everything the team require to survive in the jungle for days on end. Be it LPG gas tanks, rations of water, cooler boxes full of food, the D-MAX can be depended on to deliver with quiet confidence,” said Mr. Machimura.

Patricia Peng Hului from Borneo Post said, “I never expected to be driving the D-MAX, particularly in the jungle. It was so empowering to drive over the obstacles and mud. While I was driving, those on the outside were telling me that the wheels were off the ground and hanging in mid-air but I didn’t feel it at all. It just felt so stable in my hands.”

Ruslan Lusi of Harian Metro added that “I am amazed that the D-MAX is just a standard vehicle with minor modifications made to its suspension system only. It is so easy to handle and the traction is really very impressive. Even in the deep mud, the car is able to continue to crawl out. It was simply fantastic.”

Isuzu D-MAX is a perfect off-roader owing to its low centre of gravity and excellent torque delivery which allows the vehicle to remain sure-footed and predictable without even a hint of drama considering then numerous muddy and slippery ridges along with narrow pathways and deep slits over the road.

The Borneo Safari has been Asia’s premier off-road event and is happening every year since its inception 25 years ago. Isuzu Malaysia has been the Diamond Sponsor of the event for the last 4 years although the Isuzu D-Max is been used since 2006 to ferry members of the media during the event.

Despite being a biotech professional, Sanchit Agarwal's daydreams of driving a Ferrari and chasing cars in a Grand Prix made him jump into automotive journalism. His childhood craving for the cars started with Hot wheels toys which led him to create pseudo cars on his own. When people loved playing outdoor sports, Sanchit was stuck to his racing video games hidden in a closet. The torque of his creative writing coupled with his passion for moving machines pushed him into Carbay's garage. Sanchit also wonders's, why is he writing this as a third person.
