Kia Rio Sedan Launched in Malaysia, to be Offered at Price RM72,888

Kaula Lumpur: Kia Motors, the South Korean manufacturer has launched Rio Sedan in Malaysia at RM72,888 (on-the-road inclusive of GST and insurance). Earlier, the car was showcased at the Mines International Exhibition and Convention Centre in November 2015. With the launch of Rio, the manufacturer has eyes to grab the B-Segment market that’s mainly influenced by the Toyota Vios and Honda City.

On the Exterior front, the B-segment Rio Sedan exhibits sportier looks with new front bumper, equipped with smart fog lamps on it, and black finish honeycomb grille with halogen reflector lights. Although it is not offered with LED technology whereas daytime running lights can be seen on the front. While at the rear end, it gets continuous running light over the tailgate. The car has an overall dimension of 4,370 mm, 1,720 mm and 1,455 mm (L X W X H), along with the wheelbase of 2,570 mm. On the practicality front, the Rio Sedan   offers an impressive boot space of 389-litres which is a noticeable difference between the sedan and its hatchback variant. It progress on 15-inch alloy wheels wrapped in 185/55R15 grippy tyres.

Inside the cabin, the Rio houses all equipment with latest features such as keyless entry system and an advanced audio system featuring USB, AUX ports and Bluetooth connectivity with six-speaker with an 800MB onboard memory. The leather wrapped steering wheel which has audio control switches and company’s insignia at the centre. A three-pod instrument cluster that gives all necessary details. It is also equipped with a tyre pressure monitoring system.  Along with all these features, it has offered with high level of safety features that includes six airbags, Anti-Lock Braking System (ABS), Electronic Stability Management (ESM), Hill-Start Assist (HSA) control and emergency stop signal.

Considering Kia Rio specs the sedan is powered with a 1.4-litre four cylinder petrol engine, which is further mated to a 4-speed automatic transmission that sends the engine power to the front wheels. The engine churns out a maximum power of 107.5 hp at 6,300rpm and 137 Nm at 4,200rpm. It is equipped with a large fuel tank which has a capacity of 43 litres. Considering the engine figures, Kia Rio is not as impressive as Honda City and Toyota Vios, and due to which the all-new Kia sedan might not be the choice of the customers who wish to have power and comfort hand-in-hand.

Kia Rio Sedan is available in four color options namely Bright Silver, Signal Red, Deep Blue and Clear White along with the manufacturer has also provided 5-year of warranty.

With the launch of Rio, Naza Kia Malaysia, the official distributor of Kia Motors in Malaysia is also expecting to achieve a milestone of 2000 units sales in 2016.
