MAS 2025: Chery previews the Tiggo Cross SUV; bookings now open

KUALA LUMPUR: Chery Malaysia has pulled the wraps off its newest compact SUV, the Tiggo Cross, at the Malaysia Autoshow 2025. Earlier previewed as the Tiggo 4, the SUV has been rebranded as the Tiggo Cross for the local market.

Bookings for the Chery Tiggo Cross are now underway in Malaysia with guaranteed delivery by August 2025 for the first 500 customers.

Dimensions

Positioned below the Omoda 5, the Tiggo Cross is an B-segment SUV measuring 4,318 mm in length, 1,830 mm in width, and 1,670 mm in height. These dimensions put it in direct competition with the Perodua Ativa and Honda WR-V in terms of size.

Exterior 

The exterior design of the new Chery SUV aligns with its bigger Tiggo siblings, featuring a bold face incorporating a large and angular studded grille, slim LED headlights, and vertical crystal  LED daytime running lights. 

Further accentuating the SUV’s styling appearance are chrome trims, 17-inch two-tone five-spoke alloy wheels, and integrated rear tail lights

Engine and performance 

Chery Malaysia offers the Tiggo Cross in two variants - 

• 1.5-litre Turbo, generating a maximum power output of 147 PS and a peak torque of 210 Nm. Power is sent to the wheels via a 6-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. It runs from 0-100 kmph in 9.9 seconds and offers a fuel economy of 16 kmpl.
• 1.5-litre Hybrid, combining a 102 PS / 125 Nm 1.5-litre turbo engine and a 204 PS / 310 Nm electric motor and a Dedicated Hybrid Transmission. It completes the century sprint in 9.6 seconds and offers a fuel economy of 19 kmpl.

The Tiggo Cross HEV appeals to buyers looking for performance without sacrificing efficiency. If we look at the range, the vehicle can cruise up to 1,000 km on a single tank. That means EV-like without charging hassle, making it ideal for city driving.
