Maserati’s electric powertrain testing gets underway

KUALA LUMPUR: After announcing plans for electrification of its range of vehicles, Maserati has confirmed that the testing of its electric powertrain has started. This new full electric propulsion system will be integrated into all future electric Maserati cars. The company has built some experimental vehicles, equipping the same with the new innovative powertrain and 100% Maserati electric technology. 

The company has said that during this experimental stage it will also focus on the sound of the electric engine. While sound has always been a unique attribute of all Maserati cars with traditional combustion engines, the new electric models will also be known and marketed with a distinctive signature sound. Maserati mentioned that the customers of electric models will benefit from the vehicles’ driving pleasure, performance comfort, and sound. 

While the experimental models have been built at the new Innovation Lab in Modena, the production models will be built at the Turin production hub. The Maserati GranTurismo and the GranCabrio will be the first models to adopt electric powertrain. 

Maserati has set a benchmark in the automotive industry with its vehicles equipped with futuristic tech, design, and performance. With the introduction of electric vehicles, we are expecting its legacy of being distinctive and offering something exclusive will only grow in the times to come.
