Mazda Koeru will be built as an all-new SUV

Kuala Lumpur: Mazda Koeru is the company's prized possession and has been in the news since it was unveiled at the 2015 Frankfurt Motor Show. Many speculation has so far been made that suggests that, Koeru is just a concept which will be utilised in Mazda SUV's.

However a recent report from “Automotive news” suggests that Koeru concept will be built a completely new vehicle to the SUV nameplate of this Japanese manufacturer. The Koeru will enter the market as an all new vehicle which is supposed to be moniker as Mazda CX-4. Mazda, CEO Masamichi Kogai said “ The new car, rumored to be called the CX-4, won’t be marketed as a sportier variant of the CX-5 or CX-9 as previously thought, but will instead enter a new market segment for the brand.”

According to the Masamichi Kogai the CX-4 will be a completely new build up, although it will be a less sporty SUV in close proximity to a wagon vehicle. He also mentioned that the company's earlier cars like the CX-9, CX-3 and CX-5 are high seated whereas the Koeru is aimed to produce more driving pleasure than just the high seating experience.

The CEO believes that the production model of Koeru will be similarly in size with the CX5 but in resemblance it will be closer to something like Subaru Outback Wagon. This will surely mark the start of a newer segment of SUV's on the global scale. Thus, the company is eager to collect consumer feedback regarding the same.

This all new niche segment might not attract masses towards it, but the wagon segment is a huge market, thus there are chances that the Koeru or CX-4 will make it big. Considering the wagon market, the Japanese carmaker Subaru has so far sold 136,227 units of its Outback wagon in the United States itself in the last month which is accounted to be 9.8% up than the same month last year and surprisingly it is more than CX-3, CX-9 and CX-5 combinedly sold in November.
