Mercedes-Benz C-Class gets a new PHEV version

KUALA LUMPUR: The Mercedes-Benz C 350 e AMG Dynamic is the new plug-in hybrid C-Class model introduced by the automaker. Currently limited to the Thai market, the model costs 3,350,000 baht (around RM 425,439), thus adding to the existing lineup consisting of C 200 d Avantgarde.

Powertrain

Powering the PHEV model is a hybrid powertrain consisting of a 2.0-litre 4-cylinder turbocharged mill making a maximum power of 204 hp along with a peak torque of 320 Nm. Part of the setup is a 129 hp/440 Nm electric motor. Together the setup makes 313 hp and 500 Nm.

The drive is sent to the rear wheels via a 9-speed 9G Tronic automatic transmission unit. The setup helps the car accelerate from 0 to 100 kmph in 6.1 seconds.

Electric range & Charging

The e-motor setup includes a 25.4 kWh battery that gets charged via an 11 kW AC charger in 2 hours or a 50 kW DC fast charger. The car comes with an all-electric range of 100 km.

Exterior

The new C-Class PHEV model showcases an AMG Line exterior which instantly catches one's eye. Also part of the car’s exterior kit is a digital light with adaptive HighBeam assist, active light system, and cornering light, radiator grille with Mercedes-Benz pattern, and 18-inch AMG 5-twin spoke alloys.

Also part of the specs sheet is TIRE FIT (rapid temporary tyre repair kit) and a comfortable suspension with air level comfort on the rear axle.

Interior

Compared to its diesel counterpart, the C 350 e AMG Dynamic PHEV showcases a better sight via its AMG Line interior. Part of the car’s cabin kit is - AMG floor mats, a panoramic sunroof, sports seats, AMG multifunction sports steering wheel in Nappa leather, heated front seats, an electric sunblind for the rear window, Burmester 3D surround sound system, brushed sports pedals with black rubber studs, and beltlines in ARTICO man-made leather I Nappa look.

The car offers passengers perfectly reasonable connectivity features including an 11.9-inch touchscreen display with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay support, MBUX, ambient lighting, and LTE communication.

Safety

The car offers a bunch of standard safety features for the Thai-spec model; the list includes -

• Attention Assist
• Active Parking Assist with Parktronic
• Active Distance Assist Distronic
• Active Lane Keeping Assist.

Mercedes-Benz Malaysia lineup offers the C-Class in two variant options - the C 200 Avantgarde and the C 300 AMG Line. In the future, we expect the new PHEV trim to be a part of the range as well.
