Ultra-luxury 2022 Mercedes-Maybach S-Class arrives in Malaysia

KUALA LUMPUR: We received the pricing confirmation for the standard yet luxurious S-Class just last week and now we have in front of us an even grandeur version of it, the Mercedes-Maybach S-Class. 

Introduced in the sole S 580 4Matic variant, the Maybach S-Class combines beautiful design, latest tech, and a mild-hybrid powertrain making it an ultimate form of transportation to be chauffeured around like a boss. 

Differentiating itself from the standard model, the Maybach S-Class features a signature pin-striped Maybach grille on the front along with chrome detailing around the lower bumper. We can also see the Maybach badge on the C-pillar. Also, part of the mix is Digital Lights, huge 21-inch multispoke alloy wheels, Panoramic sliding sunroof, and electrically-operated rear doors that operate with hand gestures.

Mercedes-Maybach also offers this ultra-luxury model in an optional unique dual-tone paint job that is done by hand and takes almost 7 days to complete.

The all-new S 580 4Matic is powered by a 4-litre V8 engine paired with an integrated starter-generator and a 48V electrical system. The engine churns out a maximum power output of 503 PS at 5,000 rpm and a peak torque of 700 Nm between 2,000 rpm and 4,500 rpm while the electric motor contributes 20 PS and 200 Nm of torque. 

The power is sent to all four wheels with the help of a 9G-TRONIC transmission and a 4MATIC system. This enables the sedan to complete the century sprint in just 4.8 seconds on its way to get a top speed of 250 kmph.

As for safety, the Maybach version is packed with the 14 airbags, PRE-SAFE positioning function for the rear seats, and Driver Assistance pack comprising autonomous emergency braking with cross-traffic and pedestrian detection, adaptive cruise control with stop and go, and lane centering assist for Level 2 semi-autonomous driving.

To own this ultimate comfort and style, you must have extremely deep pockets as it is priced at RM 976,230 (with a 50% SST rebate). It is almost RM 277, 486 dearer than the standard S-Class. Included in the price is a four-year, unlimited-mileage warranty.
