New Renault Captur to challenge the massive existence of Ford Ecosport in Malaysian markets

Kuala Lumpur : So now, as we already know that Renault Captur after a long wait has been unvieled today in Malaysian auto-market. The french car conglomerate's entry of Captur to the Compact SUV markets of Malaysia tends to give a nail-biting competition to Ford's B Column SUV Ecosport. Captur has been ruling the B segment SUV markets of Europe since its inception and with same zeal, the company expects that it would soon take over the futility of Ford Ecosport in Malaysia.

Coming to the history of Ford Ecosport it is clearly evident from the market stats that this mid segment SUV is widely loved and appreciated by Malaysians, although being an year old launch it lacks the latest features which are munificently observed in the Renault Captur. This improvement on the features by the French makers is a smart move to shift Ecosport's decorum towards this savvy offering.

The spain manufactured Captur is being offered by the company at pretty attractive prices estimated from RM118K to RM123K, which is quite on the high side as compared to the Ecosport. Whereas with Ford's confidence and market acclaimation Ecosport's comes at RM93K to RM104K which is a considerable difference one should consider while choosing between. Well, the RM25K uncertainity in prices can be easily waved off as we did the comparitive study among both.

  • Renault being on the generous side offers the base model of Captur with alloy wheels and a variety of solid features like cruise control and Hill start assist, whereas with the Ecosport you just get steel wheels and no such features.
  • To match with the basic specs of Captur, Ecosport has to juxtapose its flagship variant titanium which offers comparative features but still fails to the engine performance of this highly attractive Renault offering.
  • With a 1.2 litre TCe 120 turbocharged engine the Captur spurrs out 120 hp with a maximum torque of 190Nm at 2000 rpm which is significantly larger than the Ecosport's 1.5 litre Ti-Vct engine offering 110 hp and maximum tourqe of 142Nm at 4400 rpm.
  • Renault Captur is a treat for the speed enthusiasts as the car provides better acceleration with a 190Km/h top speed, which is a 20Km/h gain from the Ecosport's 170Km/h.
  • Renault surely took care of the fuel prices in Malaysia as it offered a better fuel efficient engine shelling out a 17Km/ litre mileage which is sizeably great than the 14Km/ litre of the Ford Ecosport.
  • Having a longer wheelbase the interior spaces are cleverly designed in the Captur increasing the boot space to 455 litres with adjustable rear seat. With these figures Ecosport is nowhere near feautring a 346 litres trunk capacity.

Overall it can be concluded that loosening your pockets for RM 25K more can get you an alluring B segment SUV with plethora of new features and more practicality on road.
