KUALA LUMPUR: The ‘Keluarga Malaysia Automotive Discount Voucher’ worth RM 1,000 by the Malaysian Ministry of Finance can now be redeemed without any formal application at an authorised dealers or service centre.

    The recent 50 percent discount on standard parts announced by Perodua and Proton along with the waiver of labour fees (on all parts replacement and repairs) by Perodua is welcomed by open hands by the Malaysian government.

    Statement from the Ministry of Finance Malaysia read, “Owners of vehicles damaged by floods can redeem the vouchers at service centres or authorised dealers for the automotive companies involved. The reduction in repair costs will be enjoyed by direct deduction from the total cost of repairs or the cost of replacing new vehicles through invoices that will be issued by service centres and authorised distributors.”

    The deadline for claiming the government discount voucher is 31st March 2022 and vehicle owners are advised to claim the service immediately from the authorised distributor and service centre to avoid any inconvenience. Finance Minister, Tengku Zafrul hopes automotive companies offer further initiatives to affected car owners.

    Is there any more assistance offered to the owners of flood-affected vehicles?

    Flood-affected vehicles owners can seek assistance via the PIAM’s vehicle clean-up subsidy of up to RM 500 per vehicle (fund size limited to RM 2.4 million). Also, the Road Transport Department will replace damaged vehicle’s documents for free.
