Official photos of the 2019 Suzuki Jimny surfaced on the Internet
KUALA LUMPUR: The fourth-gen Suzuki Jimny gets a makeover. The official images of the same are out though. After waiting for so long, the revised Jimny is here after almost 20 years. The official images say it all about the new Suzuki Jimny. This move by Suzuki has come just ahead of the official reveal of the Jimny that is scheduled on 5th of the next month.
After looking at the images, it is clear that Suzuki has retained the traditional boxy design of the Jimny. Up front, it gets the iconic five-slot grille with brand’s logo at the centre, round classic headlamps and fog lamps lower down the black heavy duty bumper. Besides headlamps, it gets individual turn indicators. At the centre of the front bumper, there is a wide air-dam for heat management. The boxy wheel arches are finished in black. While the exact specification of alloys is not known it is expected that the new Jimny will come with either 15-inch or 16-inch wheels. The new Suzuki Jimny uses the ladder-on-frame chassis, as a result, it now measures 3,300mm long, 1,475mm wide and 1,715mm high. It sports a wheelbase of 2,250mm.
There will be multiple colour options for customers to choose from that include Jungle Green, Blueish Black Pearl, Spare White, Medium Gray, Pure White Pearl and Silky Silver Metallic. Some dual-tone shades will also be on offer including Kinetic Yellow, Chiffon Ivory and Blyisque Blue Metallic.
Inside, Suzuki Jimny has been given a touch of modernity. Unlike exteriors, interiors are more upmarket and resemble the one seen on the different present-day Suzuki models. However, the old-school look is still there to amaze the customers. Modern components inside the cabin include a touchscreen on the centre console, a multi-function steering wheel, electrically adjustable windows, automatic climate control and others.
At heart, the 2019 Suzuki Jimny gets a 0.66-litre three-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine. The top-of-the-line model will, however, get the 1.5-litre three-cylinder naturally aspirated petrol engine. Both engines will be mated either to a 4-speed automatic transmission or a 5-speed manual gearbox. The new Jimny will be a 4x4 vehicle with Suzuki Allgrip Pro 4x4 system and you can expect some serious off-road capabilities.
The official unveiling is not too far so stay tuned for more updates about the classic Jimny.
