Omoda 4 SUV breaks cover in China; launching next year

KUALA LUMPUR: During the Chery International User Summit 2025, recently held in Wuhu, Chery gave us an early preview of the upcoming Omoda 4. This is the brand’s next European-focused compact SUV, set to launch in 2026.

Omoda 4 SUV: What’s known so far

A compact SUV

The Omoda 4 is the production version of the Omoda 3 concept introduced in April. Positioned below the Omoda 5, it is a ‘global’ small SUV similar to the BYD Atto 2, Kia EV4, and Toyota Corolla Cross in terms of size.

“Cyber Mecha” design

Targeting the younger generation, the upcoming Omoda SUV is underpinned by a “Cyber Mecha” design philosophy, featuring a sharp-edged and futuristic appearance with angular lines, metallic finishes, and details inspired by robotics.

Sci-fi interior 

The five-seater cabin features a sci-fi-inspired interior with a spaceship-like central console, diamond-shaped physical buttons, and a large portrait-oriented head unit powered by a 2.5K Snapdragon processor. Adding more visual drama to the appearance is a red, pilot-style cage that conceals the engine start button.

Other key highlights include a slim instrument display, a wireless phone charger with ventilation, and a column-mounted gear selector.

While explaining the design of the Omoda 4, Richard Koo, OMODA Design Director, said, “OMODA 4’s dynamic contours not only reflect cutting-edge aesthetics but also resonate with the passionate mindset of the younger generation. Further details, including drivetrain, trim levels, and pricing of the all-new Omoda 4, are expected to roll out closer to the SUV’s launch, slated for next year.
