Perodua sold more than 14k cars in September with 102% jump

KUALA LUMPUR: In the month of August, Perodua Malaysia managed to grab sales of 6,988 units, while in September, the national car brand sold a total of 14,160 units. That shows a jump of 102% and the credit goes to the gradual improvements in the supply chain that was disturbed due to the COVID-19 restrictions. Well, now everything seems well as this is the third consecutive month of improvement in Perodua sales figures.

The company’s President and Chief Executive Officer, Dato’ Zainal Abidin Ahmad stated, “The automotive supply chain has shown improvements but have yet to reach their full potential. We are continuously working with our suppliers and dealers to further improve productivity and safety.” He also explained that this growth in production and sales is in line with the strict quality control measures to ensure customer satisfaction.

“We thank our customers that have continued to be patient with us as we further improve production,” Dato’ Zainal said.

“We do apologize for any inconvenience caused by the delay in the delivery and we will assist our customers in any way that we can to ensure that their Perodua is delivered as soon as possible,” he added.

Speaking about the cumulative sales of the year so far, the company has registered a total of 119,093 cars between January and September 2021. In comparison, there was 145,012 sales volume in the same period of 2020. And, if we compare the third quarter of 2021 with the second quarter, numbers showed a dip of 44.6%. The reason for falling numbers is obvious: the second national lockdown that started on June 1 and was lifted in stages commencing August 16, 2021.

Well, now for the fourth and final quarter of the year, Perodua is looking forward to better numbers as the cases of the COVID-19 are decreasing nationwide and vaccination of nearly 90% of the Malaysian adult population has been done.
