Proton Iriz EV Vs Nissan Leaf - The Green War

Proton Iriz EV Vs Nissan Leaf - The Green War

A few years ago, you could count the number of available plug-in cars on one hand, with a couple of fingers left over. Today, there are more than 20 models offered from more than a dozen different brands—in a range of sizes, styles, price points and powertrains to suit a wide range of consumers. Many of them have been discontinued as a reason of failing to emerge from concepts. But EVs are here to stay. The cars on today's list of Carbay are recently unveiled Proton Iriz EV and by far the most popular EV in the world, Nissan Leaf. Both the cars offer the sweet speedy but silent driving experience only available from battery-to-motor power. Which one among the two is a better take? Check out the comparison of two electric cars here.

The Proton Iriz EV, which looks familiar to the Iriz model is a totally different car underneath. It is expected to be officially launched by the end of this year or in early 2016. The expected costing of the Iriz EV would be under RM100,000. The most striking feature of this Proton car is its MEDC cycle-based operational range of around 300 km.

On the contrary to Iriz EV, there stands an old game player of the field - the Nissan Leaf. Leaf is a bit on the costlier side and is popular in the B-Class Electric segment, which comes at pricing RM 180,566.18. It is a well-equipped, all-electric hatchback that seats five adults and commonly travels about 80 miles on a single charge. Though, it isn’t Usain Bolt in a sprint, taking 11.5 seconds to get to 60 MPH.

Many electric cars have come onto the scene since the Nissan Leaf debuted, but there are only a few able to outlast this EV in electric range, while none have surpassed it in sales. What reaction Proton Iriz EV gets from the market is a next deal of interest to look after. Or, in simpler terms,w e can say that – Is Proton Iriz EV has the potential to change the EV game plan or not?
