What interests us more is the question: Which carmaker sold the maximum cars in Q1 2022?

Following it is another national carmaker, Proton, which sold a total of 25,589 units. Compared to the sales of the same period last year, the carmaker experienced a 21.1 percent drop in sales. The carmaker attributed the sharp drop to the global semiconductor shortage.

Out of all the automakers, Hyundai and Volkswagen showcased a stunning hike over last year's figures with a 97.6 and 71.9 percent growth, respectively. The model that contributed the most to VW sales is the Arteon sedan.

Apart from Proton, the only other automaker to have experienced a drop in the sales compared to Q1 2021 is Ford. We hope these brands will perform much better in the upcoming quarter with new launches (2022 Saga) and initiatives (like the Ford Ranger Getaways).
