Skoda releases first interior sketches of Kushaq SUV

KUALA LUMPUR: Skoda has been teasing the upcoming Kushaq SUV for a long time now. It was only a while back that we saw the exterior profile of the car and as we near its global debut (March 18), the automaker has released Kushaq's interior images. And we must say, we aren't disappointed even a bit.

What does Skoda Kushaq's interior reveal?

The first thought that came to our mind on seeing Kuishaq's cabin was that it looked similar to the Vision IN SUV Concept that the automaker showcased at the Auto Expo 2020. It gets a layered dashboard with a chrome bar separating the rear and bottom parts. The said chrome bar runs throughout the length of the dash and acts as a bridge between the massive, chrome-cased air vents. What's most striking is the extensive use of orange accents throughout the dashboard, door, centre tunnel, and console.

On the connectivity front, is a 10-inch touchscreen infotainment unit that offers an array of features, including connectivity and navigation. For the driver, there is the Skoda Virtual cockpit that comes with digital dials, all presenting a whole lot of information to the driver.

It is to be noted that the production car misses out on the 'crystalline element' that was seen on the concept, placed on top of the dashboard.

Like the upcoming Octavia and ongoing Superb, the Kushaq SUV will feature a two-spoke steering wheel. Also, a similar setup is expected to follow in the upcoming Raid-replacement. As can be seen, the steering is multi-functional with controls for voice command, phone control, cruise control, and lane assist.

Coming to the central console, we see a manual transmission, however, an automatic unit is also expected to be offered as well. Also, present are controls for HVAC that are touch sensitive and not rotary dials.

Skoda has also provided multiple storage options, like behind the gear lever, cup holders etc.

Upcoming Skoda Kushaq exterior design

As seen in the previous images, the upcoming Kushaq exterior design language looks aggressive and bold. It includes features like a wide grille that meets seamlessly with the dual-headlights, muscular bumper with sharp creases and cuts, roof spoiler, wraparound LED tail lights, and faux diffuse. The SUV runs on 17-inch alloy wheels which are standard on top-spec trims.

2021 Skoda Kushaq powertrain

The Skoda Kushaq will be offered in two petrol turbo engine options - a 1.0-litre and 1.5-litre. The former makes 110 hp of power that is sent to the wheels via a 6-speed manual gearbox. The bigger mill generates 150 hp and is offered in two gearbox options, manual and dual-clutch automatic.

Excited to meet the upcoming Skoda Kushaq SUV? Well, its arrival is just around the corner, scheduled for March 18, 2021.
