Skoda Vision IN concept unveiled ahead of the Auto Expo 2020

KUALA LUMPUR: Skoda has unveiled the Vision IN concept at the media night before the start of the Auto Expo in India. Based on the MQB A0 IN platform, the concept looked inspired by the Euro-spec Kamiq, though with a more aggressive front fascia. The images shown here are 80-85 per cent closer to the actual model, which is likely to hit showrooms by April next year in India.

Talking about the design, the concept features a multi-slat aggressive grille at the front that is flanked by sleek-looking LED headlamps with DRLs. The fog lamps, instead of positioned at the lower end of the front bumper, are placed below the headlamps. Large air dams and a faux skid plate are present on the bumper.

On the side, you’d notice the flared wheel arches, black cladding, roof rails, and a pronounced shoulder line. The rear end gets inverted L-shaped LED tail lamps with SKODA lettering in the centre, integrated spoiler, black cladding lower down the bumper, and LED strip near the lower end of the tailgate.

Inside the cabin, the Vision IN concept gets a 9.2-inch touchscreen floating infotainment system, a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, and leatherette upholstery with orange highlighting. There is a possibility that the production model will feature a similar dashboard as the Euro-spec Scala and Kamiq.

The production model of the Vision IN will generate power from a 1.0-litre TSI petrol made-in-India engine instead of the current 1.2-litre turbocharged petrol unit. The engine is capable of churning out a max power of 115 PS and a peak torque of 200 Nm, mated to a manual and a DSG auto transmission. A CNG variant might also be on cards.

In India, it is likely to be priced from Rs 10 lakh (RM 57,715 approx) up to 16 lakh (RM 92,344 approx).
