Suzuki Malaysia Automobile Outlets to be Rebranded as Proton Malaysia: Collaboration Confirmed

Kuala Lumpur. Suzuki Malaysia Automobile announces its partnership with Proton, on June 2015 and the Suzuki outlets will now be transformed into the Proton Edar outlets. Suzuki Malaysia has been a decade older in selling cars to the Malaysian markets and this partnership will help to promote and expand its business. Proton admits that the dealerships, vendors, platform and manpower of Suzuki will help build a strong market for Proton cars in Malaysia. CEO proton, Datuk Harith said, “We are happy that the Malaysian Government supports such collaborations as it is also in line with the National Automotive Policy (NAP).” Soon after the partnership of both the brands, Suzuki has completely ceased the production of its vehicles and has signed an MoU (Memorandum of Understanding) with Proton.

In comparison to this, Suzuki Motor Corporation has an expertise in producing commercial vehicles, cars and bikes. The Suzuki-Proton partnership is a joint venture that directly targets the objective of providing the best technology and successful platform to both the brands. The beginning of a new vehicle production after the Suzuki-proton partnership might take place before the end of the year 2016.

Since the inception of Proton in 1983, the brand has done a significant work in making a profound position in the country. By joining hands with Suzuki, the brand will not only get a technical advantage in terms of production it will also open its gates to a wide range of distribution channel established by Suzuki. Recently due to the decrease in the value of Malaysian Ringgit, the company had to increase the prices of Proton models because of this, Proton has to import few parts from outside the country and thus, the expenditure eventually increased leading to price rise. This collaboration will assist Proton in reducing the production cost with the help of Suzuki and the Japanese brand will also get a boost in its channel with the local expertise of Proton.
