Tesla working on a new software update
KUALA LUMPUR: The COVID-19 pandemic has forced us all to stay inside, with working too restricted to the coordinates of our home. Though things are working out fine, one major obstacle employees and managers are facing is conducting quiet, interruption-free video conferences. Our homes lack a soundproof area for such online meetings. Solution? Well, we don’t have one, as we too are facing the same problem, but we heard that Elon Musk and Tesla are working one such thing that’ll make working from the car a reality.
Recently, Musk via a tweet revealed that Tesla soon would introduce a native video conferencing software in its cars, as they already have the hardware for it. Three years ago, Tesla introduced the Model 3 with a cabin facing camera in the rear-view mirror. The said camera is yet to be tuned with the feature.
Soon there will be a software update linked to Tesla Network and Autopilot in the fleet of self-driving taxi controlled by Tesla. In the update, the camera can monitor the driver’s attention when the car is on autopilot and also keep track of passengers behaviour. The said feature can also be used in shared self-driving taxis in order to discourage vandals.
Musk also revealed other possible use of the camera like the drivers and passengers could record themselves via the Caraoke feature. In addition, the camera can recognize the occupants and automatically adjust the settings according to their liking.
There is no word as to when the video conferencing or any of the other above-mentioned features will be introduced by Tesla. However, reading and imaging life with these features backed by Tesla seems very tempting. On the flip side, we are worried too with factors like the invasion of privacy and risk of life if people engage in video conferencing while driving. All the questions/worries will hopefully come to an end once the new update is out.
