The 370 PS Kia Stinger GT is set to land on Malaysian shores soon

KUALA LUMPUR: It’s electrifying to hear that the Kia Stinger GT is set to arrive in the country soon, isn’t it? Kia Malaysia has shared two pictures of the Stinger GT, one showing off the front profile while other an 8-speed auto gearbox. Bith these images were released on their official Facebook page with a caption ‘Ready, set, go up against the best of the best’ along with a hashtag #stinger.

This indicates that the arrival of the V6 Stinger is not too far. The pictures posted on the Facebook show engine output figures to be 370PS and 510Nm of peak torque. This means that the Malaysian market will get the 3.3-litre V6 twin-turbo Lambda II petrol Stinger GT, mated to an 8-speed automatic gearbox. However, it remains to be known if the car will be offered in rear-wheel or all-wheel drive option.

The Stinger GT carries the potential of completing 100 kmph from zero in just 4.9 seconds before attaining the top speed of 269 kmph. Talking about the competition, the Mercedes-AMG C43 can clock 0-100 kmph in just 4.7 seconds with a setup of 3.0-litre bi-turbo V6 engine that produces a max power of 367 PS. However, the maximum it can reach is limited to 250 kmph which makes the Stinger 19 notches faster than the AMG C43.

For unawares, the Stinger GT was previewed at the 2017 Malaysia Autoshow. A left-hand drive unit was showcased at the event that was brought in by Naza Kia Malaysia for feasibility studies. The Stinger GT features full LED headlights, 19-inch multi-spoke alloy wheels, Brembo brakes, quad exhaust setup, and black wing mirror.

Internationally, the Stinger GT comes equipped with Nappa leather upholstery, 360-degree surround view camera, and an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system.

The AMG C43 is brought to Malaysia via the CKD route and is priced at RM 386,000. In this regard, the Kia Stinger GT is expected to be an affordable offering for the customers to get their hands on. In the UK, the price for the Stinger GT starts at £31,995 (RM180k) which goes up to £40,495 (RM228k) for the top of the line model.
