Uber introduces newer segment UberXL to carry up to six people in Malaysia

Kuala Lumpur: UBER Malaysia won't give up soon in the country despite the heavy protests from taxi drivers. The company is indeed coming up with newer ways to establish it's stage in Malaysia. The widely acclaimed global transportation network company has recently announced its another attractive offering moniker UberXL which is a bigger segment taxi that can carry up to six people at a time.

This newer segment by the company is placed between its earlier uberX and the premium uberBlack segment price-wise, besides the price the utility lies mainly in carrying more people at once, which presumably means MPVs with a space of up to six people.

The all new service will be priced at RM2.50 for the base fare, while the running tariff is 75 sen per kilometre or 40 sen per minute, which is slightly higher than that for uberX. While the rates for uberX – as currently listed on the Uber website – are RM1.50 for base fare, and 60 sen per km or 30 sen per minute. Earlier it was reported in May by Uber that the uberX fares were being hiked to RM2 per base fare and 70 sen per km/35 sen per minute.

The minimum fare for uberXL is RM2.50 that suggest that a trip from KL to KLIA will cost around RM110 or if you want an excursion to the Genting Highlands then it will be around RM160 which can justified to share among six people. The basic math is that uberX’s rates are RM90 and RM140 respectively and UberXL is more than that, but splitting among a company of five, it won't be much.

We believe that placing a request on Uber is a pretty easy task, all you need to do is start the app, select the service and tap the pick me up icon and that's it, slide in the ride and gear up your earphones.
