UK gets its share of cute car with the ‘Funky Cat’

A very cute, unique-looking hatch has made its way to the United Kingdom. Called the Funky Cat, yes a name we never expected for a car, it essentially is a soon-to-arrive Malaysia-bound Good Cat. In China, it is sold under the name Haomao.

Currently, it is offered exclusively as a First Edition model in the UK. Powering it is a front-mounted electric motor that churns out a maximum power output of 171 hp along with a peak torque of 250 Nm. This configuration helps the Funky Cat to complete the century sprint in just 8.3 seconds and attain a top speed of 159 kmph.

The e-hatch offers an estimated range of 310 km (based on the WLTP cycle), all thanks to a 48 kWh battery pack. As for its charging time, it goes from 15 to 80 percent in around 3-4 hours via a regular 11 kW AC charger. The same level of charge is attained in around 40 minutes from an 80 kW DC charger.

Price? The Ora Funky Cat First Edition retails for GBP 30495 (approx. RM 168k), after the UK government's grant for Plug-In cars. Included in the price is a 5-year unlimited mileage warranty and an 8-year/100,000 mile (160,934 km) battery warranty.

What’s more interesting than the electric hatchback’s name is its strong demand for being a new Chinese brand? The car has already received over 6,000 registration, making a loud entry into the British market.
