Upcoming Nissan GT-R special edition to celebrate partnership with tennis star
KUALA LUMPUR: Nissan announces the launch of a special edition GT-R in order to celebrate the victory of the Japanese tennis star, Naomi Osaka, over Serena Williams. She is now the brand ambassador for the company. Nissan will sell the vehicles in Japan to celebrate this move.
It is nothing new for Nissan to choose an athlete for the brand ambassador’s position. As earlier, the champion athlete, Usain Bolt, has recently served as the brands Global Director of Excitement. The company has picked the tennis star, Naomi Osaka, following the U.S. Open Champion final. She is the first tennis player in Japan to become a Grand Slam Singles Champion.
The Nissan GT-R special edition will be available in three color combinations - Meteor Flake Black Pearl, Brilliant White Pearl, and Midnight Opal. The car has high mounted LED stop lights placed on the carbon-made spoiler at the rear.
The special GT-R edition is built on the premium trim from the model series. It derives power from a 3.8-litre V6 twin-turbocharged mill, which is capable of delivering 562 hp of power, along with a peak torque of 437 Nm. The power is sent to all the four wheels via a 6-speed dual-clutch transmission.
The new special edition Nissan GT-R will have a limited run of just 50 units. Pricing and pre-bookings will be announced shortly. However, it will be available in Japan only and is definitely not headed to the Malaysian market.
Apart from this, there is another special edition model available from the Japanese automaker, which is made in collaboration with Italdesign.
