Volkswagen Polo Trophy launched at RM90k, only 100 Units available

Volkswagen Group Malaysia (VGM) has just launched the limited edition Volkswagen Polo Trophy in conjunction with the success of this car in the arena of the World Rally Championship (WRC). The car will be available in a limited edition run of just 100 units. The Polo Trophy was unveiled to the media by no one else than Volkswagen Motorsport’s Finnish duo, Jari-Matti Latvala and his co-driver, Miikka Anttila. The world-renowned rally pair who recently positioned second at the 2015 Rally Deutschland, were in town for a meet and greet session with the fans, also present at the launch was the Managing Director of Volkswagen Group Malaysia, Armin Keller.

Volkswagen Polo Trophy launch was another reason to celebrate the success, as Volkswagen Motorsport’s marked momentous one-two-three WRC win on home turf. Armin Keller, VGM managing director said, “We are proud to have with us today Jari-Matti Latvala and Miikka Anttila at the launch of this limited edition Polo Trophy, designed especially for Malaysian WRC fans,”.

Volkswagen Polo Trophy appear totally different with a sticker on the side of the bonnet and matching satellite navigation systems. Volkswagen decided to limit the rally vehicle to hatch only with changes mostly on the cosmetic side, with addition of stylised decals on the bonnet and along the sides of the car plus a contrasting wing mirror treatment and a WRC-inspired sporty rear spoiler. Also, a unique eco tint window film and a Blaupunkt Philadelphia 835 seven-inch touchscreen head unit with navigation are added to enhance its sporty character.

Although, no engine tweaking are performed on the car. The Volkswagen Polo Trophy is running on the same power mill of naturally-aspirated 1.6 litres MPI four-cylinder engine churning out a total of 105 PS at 5,250 rpm and 153 Nm of torque at 3,800 rpm. The torque is equally distributed over the front wheel by its six-speed Aisin automatic transmission.
