Volvo S90 Officially Unveiled on The Internet

Kuala Lumpur: Volvo S90 images has been finally unveiled by the manufacturer at an exclusive event for media yesterday. Volvo S90 is all set to follow the footsteps of XC90 crossover which was revealed last year. It is said to share the same design language with that of XC90 and Volvo Concept Coupe.

Towards the front fascia, this Volvo sedan gets an inwardly curved signature grille along with elongated headlights. These headlights also feature company's very own T-shaped daytime running lights. Its rear end is designed with a huge company's insignia along with C-shaped taillights on both the ends. Further, a pair of trapezoidal exhaust pipes can also be found with chrome tips. Featuring a Scalable Product Architecture, Volvo S90 has got a length of 4963 mm, width of 1890 mm, height of 1443 mm along with a wheelbase of 2941 mm. Inside, Volvo S90 shares the same dashboard layout with that of XC90. The centre console features a 9-inch touchscreen along with vertical silver air-conditioning vents. One can also find an adaptive 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster which is designed according to driver's convenience.

Talking about the powertrains, two petrol engines are provided. One being a T6 engine, and the other one being a T8 plug-in hybrid Twin Engine. Both the 2.0-litre 4-cylinder engines churn out a maximum power of 320 hp at 5700 rpm along with a peak torque of 220 Nm at 5400 rpm. Further, it is mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission which sends power to all the four wheels. Moreover, two diesel engines are also offered namely D5 and D4, both being a 2.0-litre 4-cylinder turbodiesel engine. The former delivers a maximum power of 235 hp at 4000 rpm along with a commanding torque of 480 Nm at 1750-2250 rpm while the latter is capable of delivering 190 hp at 4250 rpm and 400 Nm of torque at 1750-2500 rpm. The D4 engine is mated to 6-speed manual transmission which sends power to its front wheels while D5 is paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission which sends power to all the four wheels. Additionally, T8 is attached to an electric motor which provides 87 hp along with 240 Nm of torque. Further, this electric motor is powered by a 9.2 kWh lithium-ion battery.

Talking about the safety features, Volvo S90 is employed with IntelliSafe Pro system, IntelliSafeSurround along with IntelliSafeAssist. The IntelliSafeSurround provides rear collision warning, blind spot information and cross traffic alert while IntelliSafe Assist provides distance alert, adaptive cruise control and a semi-autonomous drive system.
