Zeekr 001 premium EV sold out for the year

KUALA LUMPUR: Geely’s new premium electric vehicle band, Zeekr, recently launched its first product, the 001. The deliveries for the premium EV were scheduled to commence in October, but the demand was such that the allocation for the entire year was already sold out.

The Zeekr 001 is claimed to be the world’s first electric shooting brake and it is a fairly large vehicle. It measures 4,970 mm in length, 1,999 mm in width, and 1,560 mm in height. Its wheelbase reads 3,005 mm.

As for its design language, since it is based on the Lynk & Co Zero concept, the two bear a lot of resemblances. For instance, the 001 gets the Zero concept’s full-width grille, split LED headlights with vertical upper DRLs and matrix main lamp, and segmented full-width tail lights. The only addition being the additional front fender camera on selected models.

On the inside, the Zeekr 001 offers a theatrical experience thanks to the powered doors that automatically opens and closes on sensing a person. The cabin also features a flat-bottom steering wheel, a massive 15.4-inch centre touchscreen, a wraparound centre console, an 8.-inch instrument display, and a pebble-like gear selector. Its features list also includes -

• 11-speaker Yamaha surround sound system
• 14.7-inch head-up display
• Power-adjustable front and rear seats with optional massage function
• Nappa leather and Alcantara upholstery

The Zeekr 001 is offered in two powertrain options, both of which utilise the same 272 PS and 384 Nm electric motor. The rear-wheel-drive single-motor model completes the century sprint in 6.9 seconds, while the dual-motor all-wheel-drive version touches the 100 kmph mark in 3.8 seconds. The car can attain a maximum speed of 200 kmph.

As for charging, the 001 only accepts home charging, up to 7 kW of AC power, it supports DC fast-charging up to 360 kW.

On the safety front, the 001 comes turned with several active and passive features like -

• Autonomous emergency braking
• Lane Centering assist
• Adaptive cruise control
• Blind-spot monitoring
• Door opening warning
• Fully-autonomous parking
