A hatch that loves corners
Driving the Mazda 3-Hatchback around Penang’s coastal bends instantly reminded me why I loved well-tuned compacts at the first place. The steering felt tight and confidence-booster, while the chassis delivered a planted, almost athletic attitude through winding sections. Inside, the cabin has a stylish flair to its design but in a subtle, minimalist way. The driving position had wrapped me confidently on longer outings, ensuring no fatigue. The hatch layout helped me load my weekend bags and camera gear effortlessly with no fuss. I appreciated how responsive the engine was when overtaking slower vehicles. Rear headroom, however, is the only gripe I have for this beastly SUV.
