Mazda 3 1.5G High Plus bookings open in Malaysia, est. price revealed

KUALA LUMPUR: After initiating bookings for the highly-awaited CX-60, Bermaz Motor has now opened ordering books for the Mazda 3 1.5G High Plus in Malaysia. Slotted below the Mazda 3 2.0L, the new Mazda 3 variant will be available in both Sedan and Liftback guises. Notably, the 1.5L trim was previously discontinued as part of the model’s facelift update back in 2023.

Price

Bermaz Motor has revealed the estimated price tag of the new Mazda 3 trim, which reads RM 119,620  (on the road, without insurance). It is almost RM 37k cheaper than the 2.0L trim, which makes it a more accessible option for buyers seeking Mazda’s premium features at a lower price point.

Design 

In terms of design, the new trim appears almost identical to the 2.0L model. It features the evolved iteration of the brand’s KODO design, inspired by Japanese aesthetics, which gives the vehicle a sleek and elegant appearance. Among the key highlights are 

• LED signature lighting
• Bulb-type DRLs
• Keyless entry
• Automatic rain-sensing wipers

Colours

The Mazda 3 1.5G High Plus colour palette includes 7 striking shades - Soul Red Crystal, Deep Crystal Blue, Machine Grey, Platinum Quartz, Jet Black, Polymetal Grey, and Snowflake White Pearl.

Engine and performance

Under the hood of the new Mazda 3 1.5G High Plus sits a 1.5-litre naturally-aspirated four-cylinder SkyActiv-G petrol engine that kicks out a maximum power of 118 PS and a peak torque of 153 Nm. Power is sent to the front wheels via a six-speed SkyActiv-Drive automatic transmission.

The car also features the G-Vectoring Control Plus (GVC Plus) that offers improved high-speed cornering stability.

Interior 

The clean, driver-focused interior is loaded with enhanced features, making it more up-to-date for modern buyers. The highlights include:

• Leather seats with memory function
• 10.25-inch infotainment unit 
• Wireless Apple CarPlay connectivity
• Wireless phone charger
• Full ADAS pack (which may include Mazda Radar Cruise Control, lane keep assist system, front and rear cross traffic alert, blind spot monitoring, system)
