  • About Porsche Malaysia

Starting as a consultation company, Porsche is the product of Ferdinand Porsche, founded in the year 1931. The brand was initially known as Dr. Ing. H.C.F. Porsche and was far away from the concept of creating a four-wheeled drive. However, in its initial run, Porsche was a leading provider of technology, development, and innovation in the automotive sector.

Porsche became a developer of cars after the German Government ordered him to develop cars for commercial use, post the 2nd World War. It was at this moment when Porsche’s iconic ‘Beetle’ was created. However, it was not until the year 1948 when Porsche made its official mark in the world with 356 being the first official design for Porsche by Ferdinand’s son, Ferry Porsche.

Porsche had been one of the most iconic creators around the globe to have received certifications in the field of performance and racing. The brand has also created a museum for its initial cars and the history it has made in the years. With its advancements in the following years and producing some of the most ideal cars, Porsche made a name for itself in the world for its cars that offer a world-class ride.

With its iconic lineup that comprises of models such as the 911, it made a name for itself on the race tracks as one of the best sports car builders in the world. Due to the performance of its vehicles, Porsche procured awards like 24 Hours of Le Mans for 16 times.

Sime Darby Auto Performance Sdn Bhd is the authorized distributor and seller of Porsche vehicles and parts, and also provides after-sales service for Porsche vehicles in Malaysia. It currently operates at Porsche Centre Glenmarie, Porsche Centre Sungai Besi, and Porsche Centre Penang.

The brand offers cars whose line-up includes the flagship 911, Cayman, Boxter, Panamera, Cayenne, and Macan. In the more current news, Porsche has been known for testing an electrical drivetrain for its iconic 911. The future of Porsche surely looks electrifying.

When I took the Porsche 911 on a sunrise drive to Penang, the entire journey became so ethereal and memorable. For me, the iconic flat-six engine note is quite intoxicating while the acceleration delivered is effortlessly quick and instant. What surprised me was how sharp the steering felt, boosting my confidence by several notches while driving on Malaysian’s wet roads.
