2017 Lexus LC 500 Unveiled at the Detroit Motor Show

Kuala Lumpur: Lexus, the Japanese marque has revealed sporty, high-performance coupe LC 500 car based on the LF-LC Concept at the 2016 Detroit Motor Show. The concept was first showcased at the 2012 North leAmerican International Auto Show, also known as the Detroit Auto Expo.

2017 Lexus LC 500 flaunts sharp, aggressive and stunning looks. Now, it has become the flagship model of the brand. It is equipped with a naturally aspirated 5.0-litre V8 engine which is further mated to a 10-speed automatic transmission which is further used with a responsive dual-clutch mechanism. The transmission system used is lighter and smaller than some 8-speed gearboxes. The same engine is used to power the RC F and GS F high-performance models. It generates the peak power of 467 hp at 7100 rpm and a maximum torque of 527 Nm at 4800 rpm. With such power figures, it is capable of clocking 0-100 kmph mark in just 4.5 secs. In order to provide the fierce stopping power, it is provided with 6-piston brake calipers at the front end and four-piston ones at the rear end.

The chassis of the all-new Lexus LC 500 luxury coupe is made with high-tensile steel, aluminium and carbon-fiber-reinforced plastic, which makes it the stiffest single molded body ever produced in the history of the Lexus. In order to reduce more weight, the manufacturer is also offering carbon fiber roof, aluminium door skins and a composite trunk floor as an optional feature. Furthermore, the suspension duties are carried out by a multi-link suspension system that gives accurate steering feedback. The LC 500 is progressing on 21-inch forged aluminium wheels. With such lightweight and effective components, it has achieved a perfect weight distribution of 52/48.

Besides these features, it is also offered with Lexus’ next-generation multimedia system, All-speed Dynamic Radar Cruise Control (All-speed DRCC), Pre-Collision System (PCS), Lane Keep Assist (LKA) and Automatic High Beam (AHB).

After its launch, it will compete with the Mercedes SLK and BMW 6 Series. It will be available for sale in the early 2017. The luxury division of Toyota, Lexus is looking forward to conquering the luxurious market of the country. Earlier in 2015, Lexus has registered an equal presence in the luxury car market in Malaysia.

The Detroit Motor Expo is among the major auto shows around the world where the auto manufacturers have showcased their upcoming products. Following the same, the Ford also unveiled its most powerful sedan Ford Fusion/Mondeo.
