2019 Kia Grand Carnival facelift priced at RM 155,888-184,888
KUALA LUMPUR: Just after we got the info about the official launch of the 2018 Kia Sorento in Malaysia. Kia has also disclosed the prices for the new 2019 Grand Carnival. Offered in the KX and the SX trims, the 7-seater MPV starts at RM 155,888 for the KX and goes all the way up to RM 184,888 for the top-of-the-line SX model. The prices mentioned do not include insurance costs. One can take the latest MPV home in one of the color options - Snow White Pearl, Aurora Black Pearl, Silky Silver, and Panthera Metal.
As seen on the last-gen Grand Carnival, a 2.2-litre CRDI 4-cylinder turbodiesel powers both the variants. This diesel engine can produce a max power of 200 PS and 441 Nm of peak torque. The front wheels are now powered by an 8-speed automatic unit instead of the 6-speed transmission that is present on the outgoing MPV.
The front fascia of the KX features the iconic “tiger-nose” grille, SX, on the other hand, gets a mesh radiator grille. Halogen projector headlamps along with the LED DRLs are housed on the reshaped front bumper. While the KX gets conventional halogen fog lights, the SX features the “ice-cube” style LED fog lights. To help the new Grand Carnival roll on the roads are 18-inch silver alloys on the KX. Similar 18-inch alloys with two-tone finish are found on the SX. Incorporating brand news graphics are the wrap-around taillights which enhance the already stylish look of the MPV.
Standard features on the 2019 Kia Grand Carnival include electrochromic rearview mirror, manual fabric seats with 2-way powered lumbar adjustment, second and third-row seats with sunshade blinds, USB and AUX inputs, powered sliding doors, and leather-wrapped steering wheel with audio controls. Heated & ventilated front seats, 8-inch infotainment display, leather upholstery, 8-way powered front seats with memory function, and Qi wireless charging tray are exclusive to the SX variant.
Safety list on the facelifted Grand Carnival includes features like Blind Spot Collision Warning, Hill-start Assist Control, ESC, and Rear Cross-Traffic Collision Warning. All four power windows get the anti-pinch safety feature. There is also a total of three ISOFIX points in the MPV. For aid in parking, there is a reverse parking camera as well.
With the 2018 Kia Sorento and the 2019 Kia Grand Carnival already launched, Kia has saved the best for the last. We expect the 2019 Kia Optima to launch soon as well. The sedan, however, has already been listed on the automaker's official Malaysian website.
