2019 Kia Grand Carnival facelift goes live on website

KUALA LUMPUR: First, it was the 2019 Kia Optima & Optima GT. Then came the new Kia Sorento. And now, the 2019 Kia Grand Carnival facelift has arrived on the South Korean automaker’s Malaysian website. The revised edition of the MPV is offered in an 8-seat variant here in Malaysia. As before, there will be two trims available, KX and SX. To have the family-oriented 2019 edition of the Grand Carnival, one would have to pay RM 155,888 without insurance. The same updated version of the MPV was unveiled in South Korea in March earlier this year.

A 2.2-litre CRDI turbodiesel powertrain that makes 200 PS of max power and a peak torque of 441 Nm is used in both the KX and SX models. Front wheels are then sent the power via an 8-speed automatic unit. The 6-speed unit on the last-gen Grand Carnival is now gone.

On the front, the SX variant gets a mesh radiator grille, whereas the KX gets the trademark Kia “tiger-nose” setup. The front bumper is reshaped as well, and the headlamps now get halogen projector treatment along with LED DRLs. The stylish “ice-cube” style fog lamps are exclusive to the SX variant, while the KX gets conventional halogen fog lamps. The Grand Carnival KX rides on 18-inch silver alloy wheels, and the SX gets 18-inch machined 2-tone alloys. The rear bumper is also revamped and houses the reflectors and fog lamps inside. The taillights are of the wrap-around style and get new graphics as well.

Electrochromic rearview mirror, manual fabric seats with 2-way powered lumbar adjustment, second and third-row seats with sunshade blinds, USB and AUX inputs, powered sliding doors, and leather-wrapped steering wheel with audio controls mounted on it are standard. A 7-inch display music system with Bluetooth, Android Auto, and Apple CarPlay make up for the infotainment system. Also present are tri-zone automatic climate control, electronic parking brake, smart tailgate and, heated steering wheel along with a USB fast-charging port.

There are some exclusive features for the SX variant of the Grand Carnival like heated & ventilated front seats, 8-inch infotainment display, leather upholstery, 8-way powered front seats with memory function, and Qi wireless charging tray.

The facelifted Kia Grand Carnival comes with Blind Spot Collision Warning, Hill-start Assist Control, ESC, and Rear Cross-Traffic Collision Warning. All four power windows get the anti-pinch safety feature. There is also a total of three ISOFIX points in the MPV. For aid in parking, there is a reverse parking camera as well.
