All-new Mazda CX-9 now open for booking, from RM 336,215

KUALA LUMPUR: Over the weekend Bermaz Motor, the official distributor of Mazda Malaysia did some light teasing exercises on its social media channels. The image showed two-car silhouettes with no information to follow. However, the automaker has now revealed the two cars and also opened their bookings. One is the all-new Mazda BT-50 pickup and the other is the new CX-9 compact SUV. We have already discussed BT-50 in detail and now it is time to focus on the latter, the CX-9.

The all-new Mazda CX-9 is offered in two variants here in Malaysia - CX-9 2.5L AWD SKYACTIV-G and CX-9 2.5L 2WD SKYACTIV-G. Both the CX-9 variants are exactly the same except one offers AWD and the other 2WD drivetrain.

The new CX-9 is powered by a SKYACTIV-G 2.5-litre turbo in-line four-cylinder 16 Valve DOHC petrol engine making a maximum power of 228 hp at 5,000 rpm along with a peak torque of 420 Nm at 2,000 rpm. The drive is sent to the wheels via a SKYACTIV Drive 6-speed automatic with manual shift mode.

On the outside, the new CX-9 benefits from LED headlights with auto on/off & auto levelling function, LED DRLs, LED tail lights, rain-sensing variable-intermittent windshield & intermittent rear wiper, power tailgate, power sunroof with sliding & tilt glass, and advanced keyless entry.

Mazda’s latest seven-seater comes equipped with comfort and safety features -

That’s not all, as the i-Activsense suite of advanced safety technology includes - adaptive LED headlights, lane keep assist, lane departure warning system, smart city brake support, driver attention alert, rear cross traffic alert, and blind spot monitoring system.
