KUALA LUMPUR: BYD made a dazzling appearance at the 2024 Bangkok International Motor Show in Thailand by presenting its entire lineup of brands, including BYD, Yangwang, Fang Cheng Bao, and Denza. Among the EVs that took centre stage at the show were - BYD Seagull, BYD Song Max, BYD Seal U, BYD Sealion (aka Sea Lion 07), New BYD Atto 3, Yangwang U9. Fang Cheng Boa 5, and Denza D9.

    The BYD Sealion is a mid-size fastback SUV that looks very similar to the Seal. It comes in two battery pack options mated to either a single electric motor or twin motor with an all-wheel drive system.

    Based on the Seal sedan, the Seal U is an electric SUV that is larger than the Atto 3. The EV is offered in two trims in the home market - the Comfort, equipped with a 71.8 kWh battery delivering up to 420 km of range, and the Design, featuring an 87 kWh battery that provides up to 500 km of range.

    The upgraded version of the Atto 3, introduced just last month, also made a striking appearance at the show. The refreshed model benefits from a few cosmetic tweaks and technology upgrades in the form of a new 15.6-inch infotainment unit. However, it is equipped with the same 60.48-kWh battery pack, offering 420 km of range.

    Yangwang U9

    Yangwang U9

    Recently launched in China, the Yangwang U9 is an electric supercar set to disrupt the high-end luxury segment. It comes equipped with four motors tuned to generate a total of 1,306 PS and 1,680 Nm, allowing the EV to hit the century sprint in just 2.36 seconds and a top speed of 309 kmph. These numbers make it faster than both the Ferrari SF90 and Bugatti Chiron.

    This SUV hails from BYD’s off-road brand Fang Cheng Boa. Featuring a robust body-on-frame construction, it is built on a cutting-edge DMO (Dual Mode Off-Road) Super Hybrid system, paired with a sophisticated 4WD plug-in hybrid drivetrain.

    Denza D9

    Denza D9

    The Denza D9 is a luxurious minivan featuring a commanding front end that rivals other modern minivans like the Volvo EM90 and the Toyota Alphard/Vellfire twins. It comes in plug-in hybrid as well as all-electric drivetrain setups.

With ambitious plans for the Thai market, the company is geared up to commence production at its new EV facility in the third quarter of the year, with the aim of boosting overseas sales.
