Check out BMW’s latest concept car; the BM

KUALA LUMPUR: At the Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este 2023, BMW showcased its new concept car, the Concept Touring Coupé. At the very first glance, it gives us the BMW Z3 M Coupe-like vibe, a car that’s popularly known as the ‘clown shoe' or ‘bread van’ and is a perfect blend of function and form.

The all-new BMW Concept Touring Coupé, it puts forward an intriguing case study in automotive design language. Why? Well, the concept hints towards the BMW classics legacy, embodies the classic allure of a touring coupe, and adds a modern twist to the shooting brake concept.

Overall, BMW's latest concept is essentially a shooting brake trim of the Z4, wherein the soft-top convertible is replaced by a bread van-esque roofline along with the iconic Hoffmeister King (as seen on the rear).

Other interesting design elements separating it from the Z4 are -

• Vertical slats on the kidney grille
• Exclusive 20-spoke staggered wheels
• Sparkling Lario brown paint job (specifically created for the concept, utilizing blue glass flakes for added depth)

As for the cabin, it essentially looks the same as that of the Z4, however, giving it a unique feel are elements like -

• Fancy vintage-looking upholstery from Poltrona Frau (an Italian leather workshop)
• Unique leather-wrapped boot space with custom-made luggage from Schedoni

BMW has made it clear that the Concept Touring Coupe will remain a concept and so has not revealed the car’s full specifications. However, we do know that under its hood lies a six-cylinder inline engine paired with an automatic transmission that sends drive to the rear wheels.
