Check out the new 2019 Mitsubishi Pajero Sport; debuts in the Thai market

KUALA LUMPUR: The facelifted Mitsubishi Pajero Sport has been finally revealed in Thailand. This SUV is manufactured at the Mitsubishi Motors Thai plant in Laem Chabang and comes with styling updates along with several additions on the equipment list.

The ladder frame-based SUV gets updated Dynamic Shiel face, thus bringing it in-line with the ongoing Xpander and Triton. At the front, the grille now features three thick, horizontal slats done in chrome and it seamlessly merges with re-shaped bi-LED headlamps. These units are the trapezoidal shape and feature an LED light bar that serves as daytime running lights. The bonnet seems higher than before and gives the new Pajero Sport a wider and bolder look. Below the headlamps are located unique fog lamps.

A more elegant appearing unit has replaced the earlier rugged-looking skid plate, same is the case with the rear. Besides, the rear profile also gets rather long LED taillights with distinctive lighting signature.

Included in the list is a powered tailgate that can be operated via Mitsubishi Remote Control app or the key fob. As for the former method, it works well within the Bluetooth range and lets users operate the function through their smartphone. There’s also a setting wherein the tailgate will automatically open or close when in close proximity. You can even lock the doors, in case you forget to do so while walking away from the car.

As for the cabin, it mostly looks similar to the previous model, however, it now gets an 8-inch instrument cluster along with a new 8-inch infotainment system. The door panel and centre console are wrapped in soft-touch material, and the rear passengers now get AC power outlet.

Powering the all-new Mitsubishi Pajero Sport is a 4N15 2.4-litre 4-cylinder turbo diesel mill as before. The unit churns out a maximum power of 181 PS along with a peak torque of 430 Nm. The mill is paired to an 8-speed automatic transmission with both two- and four-wheel drive available.
