Coronavirus impact: British Motor Show pushed back until 2021

KUALA LUMPUR: Major auto shows around the world have already been postponed or canceled due to the Covid-19 pandemic, and here one added in the list, i.e., British Motor Show. The event was originally scheduled to take place in Farnborough in August 2020, but now the event organizers have pushed it back for an entire year due to the health crisis.

As per the statement posted on the show’s official website, the organizers state that the show has not been held for more than ten years, and this year was expected to be one of the few motoring shows to be held this year. However, the show has been postponed in line with the social distancing measures, which are expected to continue for some more time.

Those who have bought the tickets need not to worry because the organizers have stated that tickets sold for this year will be valid for next year's show. The new dates of the show are August 19-21, 2021. Not only this, but the ticket holders will also get the chance to attend the organizers’ another event, i.e., new Cars and Christmas event, which is slated to be held in November this year.

“The show will go on, And we will be there to help put the wheels back on our amazing industry as we emerge from the most challenging year we have ever faced,” said the organizers, Automotion Events, in a statement.

“We recognize that car fans and families alike will be desperate to make up for the canceled events throughout 2020 and therefore – working with our key partners, including Imperial Cars, Select Car Leasing and AFC Energy – providing that social distancing guidelines allow, we are bringing forward the launch of our winter spin-off event Cars and Christmas from 2021 to the weekend of the November 28 and 29, 2020,” they further added.

The Cars and Christmas event will be held on November 28-29, 2020, at the Farnborough International conference, in Hampshire. The tickets for the event will go on sale at the end of May; however, the number will be limited initially to comply with social distancing rules. The event can be described as a more compact version of the auto show, with an auto-related indoor market-area and a live arena where spectators can see the stunt driver Paul Swift along with celebrity guests.
