Diesel-powered Ford Ranger Raptor arriving soon in Malaysia

KUALA LUMPUR: The official distributor of Ford vehicles in Malaysia, Sime Darby Auto Connexion (SDAC), is set to introduce a new variant for the Ranger Raptor. The power-packed pickup truck already comes in a 3.0L bi-turbo V6 petrol guise and the latest one to join the lineup is a 2.0L Bi-Turbo Diesel option. 

The diesel-engine next-Gen Ranger Raptor will be available in Malaysia starting June 8, 2023, followed by the official launch ceremony at MRANTI Open Space West Entrance, opposite Pavilion Bukit Jalil between June 9-11, 2023. The diesel-powered pickup truck will also be going on tour with the Ford Experience Hub to the northern and southern regions of Peninsular Malaysia, in addition to Sabah and Sarawak.

Under the bonnet of the next-gen Ranger Raptor, the 2.0L Bi-Turbo diesel mill churns out a maximum power of 210 hp and a peak torque of 500 Nm of torque. The power is sent to all four wheels via a 10-speed automatic gearbox mated to an all-time all-wheel drive system.

Unlike the powertrain, the exterior and interior styling of the 2.0L Bi-Turbo Diesel model will be the same bold and high-energy just as the 3.0-litre petrol version. The chassis components, integrated technologies and advanced safety features kit of the two models will also be identical. 

“Since we launched with the V6 engine last year, the Next-Generation Ranger Raptor has been much sought after. Many Malaysians have been asking for different drive trains. We are responding by adding the formidable, tried and tested 2.0L Bi-Turbo Diesel engine variant to offer another ownership option for Raptor lovers and other high-speed off-roading enthusiasts,” said Turse Zuhair, Managing Director of Sime Darby Auto ConneXion-Ford.

The first 300 customers who reserve the next-gen Ranger Raptor 2.0L Bi-Turbo Diesel will be entitled to get a complimentary Kenwood DRV-A700W Digital Video Recorder (DVR) fitted inside the vehicle. The said dashcam features a Wide-Quad HD (WQHD, 3.7MP) front camera and Full HD (FHD, 1080p) rear camera for dual-channel recording. It also has a three-axis G-Sensor to detect a collision, a built-in wireless smartphone connection, and a built-in GPS.

A special discount promo code of RM 500 discount on one Ford Ranger Getaways trip will also be offered, which can be redeemable at the time of vehicle delivery.
