First-of-its-kind 'Fund Your Drive' programme launched in Malaysia

KUALA LUMPUR: 'Fund Your Drive', is the first-of-its-kind programme launched in the country. It seeks to make car ownership more accessible and affordable. How? Well, that you get to know soon, but before that know the brains behind this initiative.

The said programme is introduced by Sime Darby Auto Selection (SDAS) in association with TREVO, and via it, they aim to revolutionise car ownership in Malaysia. While the former, SDAS is the fastest-growing multi-brand used car dealer under Sime Darby Motors, the latter is SOCAR Mobility Malaysia's people-on-people car sharing marketplace.

Let's get into the details of the 'Fund Your Drive' programme and find out how this programme will make car ownership accessible and affordable.

With the 'Fund Your Drive' programme buyers of SDAS cars will be able to generate income from their vehicles by listing them on TREVO and benefit from a guaranteed resale price at the end of the 12-month period.

Wait, it gets better. The guaranteed car rental income covers almost 70 percent of the monthly loan repayment - it offers car owners a loan instalment support for 12 months. In addition, car owners will enjoy free auto servicing for the 12-month period from SDAS.

Managing Director of Sime Darby Auto Selection, Vi Thim Juan said, “This collaboration with TREVO offers a good opportunity for those who want to own an affordable car with the chance to earn extra income from it, which will also help in financing the car. Additionally, SDAS is also offering free 12-month servicing for TREVO Hosts participating in the ‘Fund Your Drive’ programme, which will provide a substantial amount of savings on car maintenance and ownership."

CEO of SOCAR Mobility Malaysia, Leon Foong said, “During this time of economic uncertainty for many, those who need to own a vehicle may be thinking twice due to the financial outlay required. Through a programme like ‘Fund Your Drive’, owners not only have a variety of reliable, pre-owned vehicles that suit their budget from SDAS to choose from, TREVO also offers them additional means to fund the expenses associated with owning a vehicle.”

The entire 'Fund Your Drive' programme concept and benefit can be easily understood via a simple example by Foong. He said, a TREVO host owning a 2015 Hyundai Grand Starex can earn approx. RM 850 per month, if his car is booked 7 days each month. Leaving him with 23 days to use the car for personal use in a month. The supplemental income is estimated to cover the owner's full monthly loan instalment amount.

Furthermore, TREVO is offering Malaysia's more ways to move around, all in a way that suits their needs. It has more listings via this programme that will expand the options of the owners.
