Ford Ranger Raptor and Focus ST wagon become latest cop cars of UK

KUALA LUMPUR: The UK Police has just updated its patrol vehicles’ list, and the Ford Ranger Raptor and Focus ST wagon are the two notable additions. The South Wales Police will be the first to get the Ranger Raptor.

Both the Ford UK Police adorn cop-car like design along with some other additions. These cop cars will be rolled off from the Special Vehicle Preparation division in Essex. Moreover, just like the other cop cars, these pair will get sirens along with all-round emergency lights.

Coming to the mechanical department, the Ford Ranger Raptor cop car is equipped with a 2.0-litre EcoBlue bi-turbo four-pot oil burner, which is capable of pumping out a maximum power of 210 hp along with the peak torque of 500 Nm. The power is sent to the wheels via a 10-speed automatic transmission.

Features like the 33-inch BFGoodrich all-terrain tyres, high ground clearance, and Fox Racing Shox dampers also make the cars able to chase in the rural location.

The vehicles’ off-road statistics are quite good as the ramp over angle and departure angle are the same at 24 degrees, while the approach angle is around 32.5 degrees.

The water wading depth of the Ford Ranger Raptor is quite impressive at 850 mm. It also comes with the Terrain Management System as standard. There are six drive modes in which off-road specific ones are Grass/Gravel/Snow, Rock, Baja, and Mud/Sand.

On the other hand, the Ford Focus ST cop car gets a 2.3-litre all-aluminium EcoBoost twin-scroll turbocharged engine, which can provide a maximum power of 276 hp along with a peak torque of 420 Nm. The engine is coupled to a six-speed manual transmission, while there is an option to upgrade it to a seven-speed automatic. The car can complete to famous 0 to 100kmph sprint in just 5.8 seconds.
