Ford Ranger Wildtrak Facelift priced at RM136k

Kuala Lumpur: Ford's Wildtrack facelifted Ranger pick-up range is set to arrive in Malaysia very soon. The range-topping pick-up truck receives design changes, active safety tech, increased efficiency, for which it is priced at RM136k. Although, this price is not the final tag, it can be considered just as a hint.

To this estimated price (that we have mentioned here), changes are inevitable on on-the-road retail price with insurance. The price tag of RM136,200 is said to be an appropriate figure for range-topping 3.2-litre Wildtrak variant.

For exact specification and information about the Ford Ranger Wildtrak Facelift, we need to wait till its official launch in Malaysia. Back in August, we were told that the pricing for the Ranger facelift will be increased by around 3% higher than presently, but the Ringgit’s performance against the US Dollar has worsened even more since then.

The more macho front fascia is similar to that of the rest of the lineup, but as with the previous Wildtrak, the grille and bumper extension are painted dark metallic grey, with the faux skid plate in silver. The grey colour scheme also extends to the wing mirrors, side air vents, door handles, bed rails and tail light internals, as is the Wildtrak graphics package.

There are some differences on this truck, however. The fog lights are rectangular as opposed to the circular ones on other Rangers, and the 18-inch machined alloy wheels are of a new two-tone six-split-spoke design. Even the signature orange hue is new for 2015, called as Pride Orange, it replaces the old Chilli Orange and has been tweaked to be even more striking.

Under the bonnet, sits the familiar U375 Everest SUV engine house, Puma P5AT 197 3.2 litre five-cylinder Duratorq, churning out a total power output of 197 hp at 3000 rpm and 470 Nm of torque at 1,750 to 2,500 rpm. But with improved exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) to return up to 18% better fuel economy and six-speed automatic combo.

Inside, the cabin receives new seats (eight-way power adjustable for the driver) with black-and-orange semi-leather upholstery and orange stitching. The latter is also used on the steering wheel and gear lever gaiter, as well as the dashboard. The new horizontally-aligned dashboard incorporates a SYNC 2 eight-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a dual-TFT LCD instrument cluster as well as a 230-volt power socket that’s handy for charging laptops and the like.
