Geely FY11 teased, official images released
KUALA LUMPUR: Supposed to be introduced in the first quarter of 2019, the upcoming coupe SUV from Geely has been teased by the manufacturer itself. Geely has released a few official images of the coupe SUV, which is called FY11.
Like the BMW X4 and the Mercedes-Benz GLC Coupe, the Geely FY11 also features a fastback shape. The FY11 displays Geely’s trademark expanding cosmos grille, heavily sculpted lower air intakes, and husky shoulder lines. As a matter of fact, the designing hand behind this coupe SUV is the Geely Design Shanghai.
Dubbed as “digital arrow”, there are newly designed DRLs on the FY11. The SUV also takes some designing cues from the Borui GE like the taillights which are inspired by the Chinese fan. The two taillamps on either end are joined by a chrome strip running across the tailgate with Geely written over it.
The newest SUV by Geely will underpin the Compact Modular Architecture (CMA) platform which Geely and Volvo developed in conjunction. While the FY11 will be the first vehicle in the Geely lineup to feature the CMA platform, vehicles like Volvo XC40 and Lynk & Co 03 have already been using the same.
Apart from the designing cues, the Geely FY11 will also be sharing the powertrain of the Borui GE. The powertrain on the Borui GE is a plug-in hybrid which features a 1.5-litre 3-pot turbocharged mill and an electric motor with a ternary-lithium battery. The complete package offers maximum power of 180 PS and 255 Nm of peak torque. Geely is using the name FY11 for the SUV while it is in the developmental phase, the final product will carry a different name altogether. Fengyue, Geyue, Haoyue, Jinyue, Xingyue, and Zhiyue are the few names which Geely has already registered.
