Honda Civic 2016 Spied in Thailand

Kuala Lumpur: Some spy photographers have caught the all-new Honda Civic 2016 undergoing tests in Thailand. Originally unveiled in the US in September 2015, this car is said to make a debut in Thailand sometime in next year. The sole image which was uploaded on the Honda Accord Club Thailand's Facebook page shows just the rear end. The minimum amount of camouflage was used to hide its identity which was not enough to disguise its unique styling cues along with visible signature rear lights design. Although the Honda logo and badge were not visible. The prototype clearly seems to be a four-door sedan with a trunk spoiler and five-spoke alloy wheels. The automaker claims it to be more rigid but lighter as well.

Inside, it features a 7.0-inch HD touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto support. Further, it is also integrated with an automatic climate control system and electronic parking brake with Brake Hold. Moreover, its huge centre console boasts of 7.2-litre of storage capacity.

Under the hood, the US-spec Honda Civic 2016 gets an option of two petrol engines. The first one being a 2.0-litre naturally aspirated DOHC four-cylinder engine which delivers a maximum power of 158 hp at 6500 rpm along with a peak torque of 187 Nm at 4200 rpm. Another one is a 1.5-litre turbocharged engine which churns out 174 hp at 5500 rpm along with a commanding torque of 220 Nm at 1800 to 5000 rpm.

Rumours suggest that the model coming to ASEAN countries would be identical to one revealed in the US. However, the final specifications may differ from country to country. Therefore, the car seen in rendered image may or may not differ from our local-spec model. The first plant to start production of this new Civic is Honda of Canada Mfg (HCM) in Alliston, Ontario.
