Hyundai Malaysia to launch Kona N Line soon

KUALA LUMPUR: Yes, it's true. The 2021 Hyundai Kona will soon get its younger, sportier sibling, the Kona N Line in the local market. The news was confirmed via a short video posted by Hyundai Malaysia on their official Facebook page.

The all-new Kona made its Malaysian debut a few months back and it was only in April that Hyundai-Sime Darby Motors (HSDM) launched the car in the local market.

Currently, the Hyundai Malaysia line-up includes two variants of the Kona - entry-level and Active. The former is priced at RM 119,888, while the latter costs RM 136,000. With the arrival of the Kona N Line model consumers will have one more option, that too of a range-topping model. Yes, the Kona N Line will sit on top of the model range.

Hyundai Kona N Line features

New Hyundai Kona N Line offerings

The question arises, what new/additional do the N Line trim have to offer over other trims. The revisions mainly concern design rather than performance. For instance, it features a redesigned Y-shaped grille, honeycomb-style air intakes, revised side skirts, 18-inch wheels, a new rear bumper and much more.

Cabin changes are not yet clear, however, it is sure to feature Hyundai N Line branding and other elements.

New Hyundai Kona N Line powertrain

The existing two trims, base and Active, source their power from a naturally-aspirated 2.0-litre 4-cylinder mill that churns out a maximum power of 149 PS along with a peak torque of 180 Nm. As for the range-topping N Line trim, a 1.6-litre turbo mill making 198 PS and 265 Nm of torque seems to be the most likely choice.

New Hyundai Kona N Line price

Though Hyundai Malaysia is numb on the Kona N Line price tag, seeing the design and mill revisions, we suspect a considerable hike in the area. The estimated Kona N Line price might come around at RM 150,000.
