JMC Vigus Pro 4×4 pickup truck launched in Malaysia

KUALA LUMPUR: The official subsidiary of Tan Chong Group, Angka-Tan Motor, has finally launched the JMC Vigus Pro pickup in Malaysia. This locally assembled Chinese truck is on offer in a single variant that rivals the likes of the Toyota Hilux, Mitsubishi Triton, Ford Ranger, Isuzu D-Max, and Nissan Navara. It is priced at RM 98,888 in Peninsular Malaysia (on-the-road without insurance, with SST exemption) and RM 100,888 in East Malaysia. Included in the price is a three-year or 100,000 km warranty.

What does the new JMC Vigus Pro pickup have on offer?

Under the bonnet, the vehicle is equipped with a 2.0-litre turbodiesel engine sourced from Ford. It churns out a maximum power output of 141 PS at 3,600 rpm and a peak torque of 340 Nm from 1,500 to 2,600 rpm. The engine is mated to a ZF eight-speed automatic transmission sending power to all four wheels. The four-wheel-drive system also has an Eaton-built rear differential lock.

As for the Vigus Pro fuel consumption, ATM claims that it is one of the most fuel-efficient one-tonne pickup trucks available on the local market with a mileage of 12.8 kmpl (7.8 litres per 100 km).

The standard exterior kit of the vehicle includes halogen projector headlights, LED daytime running lights, auto-folding side mirrors with LED turn signal lights, automatic wipers, sports bar with mounted brake light, and 16-inch alloy wheels shod with 265/70 Maxxis A/T tyres.

Getting inside, here the new pickup truck gets an all-black theme with the following features:

  • 8-inch infotainment with Bluetooth
  • 3.5-inch TFT display
  • Leather-wrapped two-spoke flat-bottom steering wheel
  • Four speakers
  • Reverse camera
  • Fabric seats 
  • Paddle shifters

The JMC Vigus Pro safety systems include cruise control (up to speeds of 150 kmph), front and rear parking sensors, dual airbags, traction control, hill descend control, hill start assist, electronic brake-force distribution, Isofix child seat mounts, and electronic stability program.

The colour options available for the new Vigus Pro are - Solid White, Glossy Black, Brilliant Silver, and the signature Steady Brown.
