JMC Vigus Pro 4×4 pickup truck launched in Malaysia

KUALA LUMPUR: The official subsidiary of Tan Chong Group, Angka-Tan Motor, has finally launched the JMC Vigus Pro pickup in Malaysia. This locally assembled Chinese truck is on offer in a single variant that rivals the likes of the Toyota Hilux, Mitsubishi Triton, Ford Ranger, Isuzu D-Max, and Nissan Navara. It is priced at RM 98,888 in Peninsular Malaysia (on-the-road without insurance, with SST exemption) and RM 100,888 in East Malaysia. Included in the price is a three-year or 100,000 km warranty.

What does the new JMC Vigus Pro pickup have on offer?

Under the bonnet, the vehicle is equipped with a 2.0-litre turbodiesel engine sourced from Ford. It churns out a maximum power output of 141 PS at 3,600 rpm and a peak torque of 340 Nm from 1,500 to 2,600 rpm. The engine is mated to a ZF eight-speed automatic transmission sending power to all four wheels. The four-wheel-drive system also has an Eaton-built rear differential lock.

As for the Vigus Pro fuel consumption, ATM claims that it is one of the most fuel-efficient one-tonne pickup trucks available on the local market with a mileage of 12.8 kmpl (7.8 litres per 100 km).

The standard exterior kit of the vehicle includes halogen projector headlights, LED daytime running lights, auto-folding side mirrors with LED turn signal lights, automatic wipers, sports bar with mounted brake light, and 16-inch alloy wheels shod with 265/70 Maxxis A/T tyres.
